Arch
Rock is situated in the heart of the Garden Route on the beach with
breath taking views over the warm Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay, as
well as the Robberg Peninsula. Arch Rock is the perfect holiday destination
offering self-catering accommodation and camping facilities with direct
and convenient access to the beautiful white beaches of Keurboom Strand.
As well as being a quiet and relaxing environment in which to unwind,
Arch Rock is the located close to all the major attractions that Plettenberg
Bay, Knysna and Tsitsikamma have to offer. Arch Rock is nestled into the mountain amongst a canopy of trees
overlooking the beach in the sleepy little suburb of Keurboom Strand
Plettenberg Bay. Standing on the dune overlooking the beach, you have
breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay and the Robberg
Peninsula. Arch Rock is a perfectly situated getaway destination as
it is ideally located in the heart of the Garden Route and provides
the ultimate vantage point, from which to launch your holiday.
From your home at Arch Rock you can easily venture to the Tsitsikamma,
a mere 30 minutes drive, which is home to the Storms River Mouth and
swing bridge, the Bloukrans Bridge which is known for being the world’s
highest bungee-jump. Storms River Mouth is also the starting point
for the famous Otter Hiking Trail.

The town of Plettenberg Bay is only 10min drive away and is home
to amazing beaches, nature parks and sanctuaries. It is here where
you will find the Robberg Reserve, Polo fields, the Keurbooms River
with its very own Island. The river is ideal for skiing, fishing,
canoeing, boat cruises, and that is but the tip of the iceberg. The
bustling former foresters town of Knysna, voted South Africa's favorite
town in 2004, is a mere 30 minutes away and is home to the world famous
Knysna Lagoon, Knysna Heads and the much loved Knysna oyster.
Arch Rock provides you with a choice of accommodation including self-catering
chalets and camping facilities, which are all conveniently accessible
from the beach. The campsites are one of the few in the area that
still offer the experience as it was first felt by the early settlers.
They used the site as a retreat from the then whaling station of Plettenberg
Bay, to come and picnic under the trees for the day.
From the site it is a five minute walk to the Arch Rock, Cathedral Rock
and the recently discovered Strandloper Cave. Many visitors to the
area drive for miles to see this natural wonder but few know its tale.
Many confuse Arch Rock (pictured left) with Cathedral Rock
(pictured right) and you can't blame them,
but the truth be known that the larger of the two arched rocks is
actually Cathedral Rock. You would have to pass underneath Arch Rock,
cross the Matjies River to get to Cathedral Rock - a fact has been
somewhat blurred over the years.
